Donald Trump will be addressing the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) in New York on March 20, becoming the first U.S. president to ever address a crypto conference. His attendance is an important milestone for the industry, attracting attention both from investors and regulators.
White House’s Crypto Focus
This comes after his recent White House Crypto Summit, which presented news on the US Bitcoin Reserve and government crypto policies. Although the crypto community had a divided reaction to the summit, it marked the administration’s increased interest in digital assets.
Bo Hines, Executive Director of the White House’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, indicated intentions to hoard Bitcoin as a strategic reserve. He indicated that President Trump’s interest is in building up assets for the people of America instead of removing them. This has fueled debate on how the administration will treat Bitcoin and other digital currencies in the future.
Trump’s Speech Format Uncertain
There are also reports that Trump’s presence at the event could be pre-recorded, with some indicating that it would be a pre-recorded message. FOX business journalist Eleanor Terrett stated, though, that various sources from the DAS Conference indicated Trump could livestream his speech. Whichever format is used, his attendance is a significant moment for crypto talk in the U.S.
The conference will tackle Bitcoin uptake, regulatory changes, and the prospects of the cryptocurrency sector. Principal speakers comprise politicians Ro Khanna and Tom Emmer and businesspeople such as MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor and Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
Saylor will deliver a keynote address and take part in a conversation with Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo. Bloomberg ETF expert James Seyffart will host a panel that involves top leaders at BlackRock and Nasdaq.
In the meantime, Ripple won as the SEC abandoned its appeal in the XRP case, a big win for the crypto space. The overall market has indicated signs of recovery after recent volatility. Furthermore, the Federal Reserve revealed it will not lower interest rates right away but will make two rate cuts later this year, which may affect financial markets, including crypto.
